Mt Shasta Snowboarding
Mount Shasta should be on all true snowboarder's list of places to ride. It offers a huge spectrum of different types and difficulties of terrain. There is so much to do here on a snowboard; if you come you may not want to leave. There are tens of thousands of acres of some of the worlds best backcountry terrain on and around Mt. Shasta, accessible by foot, driving, or snowmobiling. From the summit of Mount Shasta you can ride over 10 miles on a 35 degree pitch, getting in over a 10,000 foot vertical drop.
If riding the terrain park is your preference then you are definitely in luck. The Mt. Shasta Ski Park has two terrain parks and a super-pipe that are maintained very well and groomed every night. The Revolution Terrain Park is where it’s at, there are currently over 15 features in there, including a 45’ battleship rail, a 50’ table-top jump, a triple box line, a triple rail line and much more. The sun is out most of the time at the Ski Park and by mid day the jumps and rails are perfect for throwing it down.
Most local rippers can be found either at the Revolution Terrain Park or getting in some sick lines up on Grey Butte or in the Old Ski Bowl. Castle Lake is another local hotspot and features some easily accessible north facing powder lines. For the ultimate free riding experience and huge potential for backcountry jumps and cliffs, than you want to check out the Eddies, just west of Mount Shasta.
